Psyllium

También llamado: psyllium husk, ispaghula, blond plantain

Psyllium is the seed husk of Plantago ovata, rich in soluble gel-forming fibre. It swells in water, softens stools and slows the absorption of sugars and fats from a meal.

Para qué se usa

  • Regular bowel movements in constipation – strong evidence
  • Modest LDL cholesterol reduction – strong evidence from meta-analyses
  • Lower post-meal blood glucose rise – moderate evidence
  • Feeling of fullness – weak to moderate evidence
