Inulin

Autres noms: fructans, oligofructose, FOS, chicory inulin

Inulin is a soluble fibre from chicory root, agave or Jerusalem artichoke that the body cannot digest on its own. It feeds beneficial gut bacteria, especially bifidobacteria, and therefore acts as a prebiotic.

À quoi il sert

  • Support for regular bowel movements – moderate evidence (EFSA-approved claim for chicory inulin)
  • Growth of bifidobacteria in the gut – moderate evidence
  • Fullness and appetite control – weak evidence
  • Calcium absorption – weak evidence

Les formes et leurs différences

chicory inulin
