Stinging nettle

Auch bekannt als: Urtica dioica, nettle leaf and root

Nettle is used in two distinct forms: the leaf as a mild diuretic and for joints, and the root for urinary symptoms with an enlarged prostate. The leaf is also a source of minerals and vitamin K.

  • urinary symptoms with an enlarged prostate (root) – weak to moderate evidence
  • increasing urine flow and flushing the urinary tract (leaf) – weak evidence, traditional use recognised by the EMA
  • joint pain (leaf) – weak evidence
  • seasonal hay fever – weak evidence
