Boron

Also known as: B

Boron is a trace element that probably influences the metabolism of calcium, magnesium, vitamin D and sex hormones. It is not recognised as an essential nutrient and evidence for supplements is still limited.

What it is used for

  • Bone health support – weak evidence
  • Relief of joint pain in osteoarthritis – weak evidence from small studies
  • Raising free testosterone – weak evidence from small short-term studies

Forms and how they differ

boron citrate, glycinate, aspartate

common supplement forms, differences between them are poorly studied

calcium fructoborate
