Moringa

Also known as: Moringa oleifera, moringa powder

Moringa is a tropical tree whose dried, ground leaves are sold as a green powder or in capsules. It provides protein, fibre, some minerals and polyphenols, but at usual doses it acts more like a food addition than a major nutrient source.

What it is used for

  • adding plant nutrients and polyphenols – weak evidence, mainly a food benefit
  • support for post-meal blood sugar – weak evidence, small studies
  • antioxidant effect – evidence mostly from lab studies
