Postbiotics

Also known as: inactivated bacteria, fermentation products, paraprobiotics

Postbiotics are preparations of non-living (heat-inactivated) microorganisms or their components and metabolites. Unlike probiotics they do not need to survive in the gut, are more stable and need no refrigeration.

What it is used for

  • immune support and fewer infections in children – weak evidence, results vary by strain
  • digestive comfort and gut barrier – weak evidence
  • support after antibiotics – weak evidence

Pairs well with

A diet rich in fibre and fermented foods.

Do not combine / separate
